San Antonio proudly stands as Military City, USA, but our service members and their families face unique childcare challenges that extend far beyond those of civilian families. At Brighton Center, we understand these complexities and are committed to providing specialized support that honors the sacrifice and service of our military community.
San Antonio holds the distinguished designation as one of only two “Hospitality Cities” in the United States for military families raising children with special needs. While these families have access to world-class medical care, very few childcare centers provide the specialized developmental services their children need to thrive.
Helping your child reach their full potential, right at home
Today, more than 200 children from military families are enrolled in our ECI Program, receiving the developmental support they need to meet important milestones and achieve lifelong success.
What makes us different:
Our licensed therapists provide speech, occupational, and physical therapy, plus specialized skills training.
All services are designed to help your child develop essential skills while strengthening your family’s confidence and capabilities.
Your advocate in navigating school systems
Military families face additional complexity when accessing special education services, especially during frequent moves. Our education consultants have delivered specialized training to hundreds of military members across Joint Base San Antonio and provide personalized guidance tailored to your family’s needs.
Military-Specific Training Delivered:
Why military families choose Brighton Special Education Support Services:
Where inclusion means everyone belongs
Nearly 30% of the children at our two inclusive preschool locations come from military families—and we understand why. Our programs are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and combine high-quality early education with on-site therapeutic support, creating an environment where every child can succeed.
What military families love about Brighton Preschool:
Around half of our military families bring multiple children, with at least one requiring additional developmental support. We’re equipped to serve your entire family’s needs under one roof.
Brighton Center doesn’t just serve military families—we’re actively working to transform the systems that support them.
Quarterly Training Impact: Our Inclusive Education Conferences reach local childcare centers and preschools, with multiple representatives from Joint Base San Antonio childcare centers participating. These partnerships help implement inclusive practices directly on base.
Expanding On-Base Services: In late 2024, we submitted a comprehensive proposal to JBSA for a dedicated team of pediatric therapists to provide evaluations and therapy directly at JBSA childcare centers—reducing missed work for military families while ensuring children receive timely, quality support.
Whether you need early intervention services, special education advocacy, inclusive preschool options, or simply want to connect with other military families who understand your journey, Brighton Center is here. Call us at 210.826.4492 or email info@brightonsa.org.
