What is your position at Brighton Center and how long have you worked for Brighton?
I am a pediatric speech-language pathologist and have been with Brighton for 5 years.
What is one of the fondest memories you have while working with a child in the field at Brighton?
I don’t think I can come up with just one fond moment but I know the moments that fill my heart with the most joy are when a child learns how to communicate their wants and needs. Seeing how those tears those children use to cry turn into gestures and words is what I love to see. Every child has a voice, we just have to help them find it.
What is the best part of your job?
The best part of my job is getting to play with the children. Each day is filled smiles, hugs, laughter, and endless amounts of nursery rhymes.
What do you love most about working with children and their families?
What I love most about working with children and their families is the team approach that we take to help improve their child’s communication and overall well-being. One of the biggest reasons why chose to work in Early Childhood Intervention was because of the significant impact that can be made in a child’s life by having parent involvement in therapy. I have seen so many children make huge gains and it is all because parents are utilizing the skills we teach them in therapy.
What inspires you?
I am very much inspired by the families that give it their all to help their child succeed. I just love doing therapy with the whole family and seeing how everyone is working together and encouraging their little one.
What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
My brother has cerebral palsy and helping him throughout my childhood is what encouraged me to get a career in rehabilitation services.
You must sing karaoke, what song do you pick?
