What to expect at Evaluation Preparing for your Visit Getting Started Paying for Services

How does the evaluation process work? First, we will come to your child to complete the evaluation in their familiar environment. Next, we will ask you important questions regarding your child’s health, development, and behavior. After we have completed these steps, we will observe your child and evaluate your child to determine if they need services. If they qualify for services, we will create an individualized plan of goals and strategies for your child. For more detailed information, watch this video and let us know if you have any questions!

There’s several things you can do before and during the evaluation to maximize your child’s time with the evaluator. Think about what environment your child is the most comfortable and choose that location for the evaluation. Practice certain activities with your child to prepare them for the meeting. During the evaluation, be ready to engage with your child during the session. Mute all phones or devices that might distract you or your child. Also, please make sure you and your child are not ill for an in-person evaluation. For a virtual evaluation, make sure you have good WIFI and a reliable device with the correct app installed.

Brighton specializes in early childhood development. Our licensed therapists and specialists can assist you online or in person by coming to your home or your child’s daycare to provide them with the support that they need. Above all, we believe YOU are your child’s best teacher! We will work with you to plan your child’s plans and goals, we will observe you and your child interact, and we will help you practice so you can help your child at home with their daily routines. We will reflect, ask questions, and make suggestions to help your child succeed. As a parent or legal guardian, you play a key role in your child’s development and improvement, we are here to support you and your child.

Many of our services are free! These include your child’s full evaluation and assessment, assistance with connecting you to family resources, outline of an individualized plan of the services, activities, and goals for you and your child and translation and interpretation services. However, certain other services require payment, we will ask you a series of questions to help you determine how much you will need to pay out of pocket per month or per service. We will also help you come up with a payment plan that works for you. Don’t worry, we are here to help every step of the way!

Testimonials

Around 18m, I started getting worried that my second child Ophelia wasn’t communicating the way she should be for her age. She wasn’t telling me she was hungry, thirsty or what she did and didn’t like. All she would do was cry…a lot. We would both end our days completely frustrated with each other. My pediatrician agreed with my concerns and quickly referred me to Brighton where I was assi...
